Adele is forty years old and has the determination of a young girl “One time I found myself ringing an intercom a bit too long.
in the throes of her first disappointment in love when she starts ringing
the intercom of her former companion to convince him to let her in.
The man stubbornly refuses and over time the entire condominium
becomes spellbound by this story of love denied. According to Adele,
theirs is a great love story, but the man doesn’t see it quite the same
way. As she obstinately keeps her finger pressed on the intercom
button, memories of her childhood flash by and the image of her
blond, beautiful mother looms over her.
Then, being a more or less reasonable woman, after a while I stopped,
obviously, but I imagined what would have happened if I had
continued ringing it, for days, for months, forever. I wrote Il citofono
in one go, almost like a joke, but then it was strange, because as I was
searching for the words to tell the story, it all took a dramatic turn.
So many heroic woman, all kinds, were asking the screenplay
for asylum, and I was almost obliged to take them all in.”

Emanuela Rossi
(Ascoli Piceno, Italy, 1968), from the Marche, studied film history at the DAMS in Bologna and at Paris VIII. She then worked as a journalist for women’s magazines (“Grazia,” “Marie Claire,” “Glamour,” “Casa Vogue,” “D-Donna”) and in 2007 wrote, directed, and produced her first short, Il bambino di Carla, which was nominated at the Nastri d’Argento and the David di Donatello awards. Between 2008 and 2013, she studied actor direction with Francesca De Sapio (Metodo Actor’s Studio) and between 2015 and 2017 she was one of the directors of the series Non uccidere. In 2019, at Alice nella Città, she presented her first feature film Buio (Darkness), Premio Fioretta for Italian cinema, SIAE Silver Ribbon for Best Screenplay at the Nastri d’Argento, and Best First Film by the “Rivista del cinematografo.” Selected for international festivals (Australia, Estonia, South Korea, Romania, France, Germany, Poland, England, Israel, United States…), the movie also received awards in Nantes and Sydney.
