IMMACOLATA E CONCETTA, L'ALTRA GELOSIA

IMMACOLATA E CONCETTA: THE OTHER JEALOUSY

Country: Italy
Year: 1980
Duration: 92'

Pomigliano d’Arco, the province of Naples. Immacolata and Concetta
meet in prison and fall in love. After serving their prison terms they
decide to move in together and live their love story. But whereas
Concetta cuts every tie with her past to give herself completely to her
companion, Immacolata revives an affair she had had with a rich
butcher in hopes of improving their finances. Resigned, Concetta
accepts her friend’s choice, until fear of losing what is most precious
to her forces her to extreme measures.

“The problems and worries we encountered as we made this film are
the backdrop for the crisis of ideological certainties that has invested
my generation. In this film, we talk about woman, sexuality, roles,
passionate love, death. These themes should be removed from
ideological diatribes once and for all in order to return them to their
true sphere, the concrete experience of humans: in this case, where
it manifests itself as a ghostly relationship with the screen.”
