Joana Hadjithomas
Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige (Beirut, Lebanon, 1969) are both professors at Beirut University and work together both as artists and filmmakers, shooting fiction films and documentaries. In 1999, they wrote and directed their first fiction feature film, Around the Pink House, followed by two documentaries, Khiam (2000) and The Lost Film (2003). These were both presented at many film festivals, art centres and international museums. At the end of 2003, they returned to fiction with a short feature film entitled Ashes, which was selected for the César Awards 2005. Still in 2005, they presented A Perfect Day, which were screened at several film festival such as Toronto, Rotterdam, Cannes and Locarno. Here it won the FIPRESCI Award and the Don Quixote Award. In 2007, they directed in France the short film Open the Door Please.
