A child is left on his own for a few hours in an isolated house. A storm
is on its way when a wounded man shows up and asks the child to find
a hiding place for him. Later, a group of soldiers who are searching for
the man arrive. The soldiers bribe the child with a watch to make him
betray the fugitive’s whereabouts.

“I didn’t want a consistent rhythm. A large portion of the movie deals
with the manhunt, but the meaning of the film can’t be reduced to
just the main action. The landscape and its elements participate in the
life of the characters, who pursue a goal but never stop thinking and
feeling. I wanted to film an intimate, simple facet, I wanted to feel
the passage of time on a face. But when the characters meet, all these
aspects are suddenly left behind and the action picks up and the editing
becomes rapid once again. The bodies clash and life is brutally
concentrated in a gesture or a shout.”
