Country: Belgium
Year: 2008
Duration: 95'

Lisa, fourteen years old, disappeared with no clear reason. Her parents,
Lukas and Grace, five years from her disappearance hold out little hope
of ever seeing her again and their lack of communication spares them
from confronting the pain in their past and present. But then, through
some strange coincidences, Lisa seems to reappear in their lives. Grace
doesn’t tell Lukas about the girl she sometimes sees in the subway and
Lukas doesn’t say a word about the strange telephone calls he gets,
but whether they want it or not, Lisa has crawled back in their heads.

“When something terrible happens to you, there is always a certain
length of time during which everyone appreciates your situation and
shows concern. But after a while, there invariably comes a time when
people expect you to be over it in some way or another, and to pull
up your socks and carry on with your ordinary life. It is this last period
I want to focus on. Because, to me, that is where the most subtle
and interesting emotions and stories are to be found. I wanted to tell
a human drama in all its complexity.”
