Images from an old film showing a tryst. The man and woman “Sonderbehandlung is a term that was used by the SS; it means
have survived the passage of time, which instead has deteriorated
and eroded the film. In fact, outside the room the present time
is marked by automobiles racing past and the rain that incessantly
falls, while a lamppost illuminates the night. At the end, the notes
of Selene by Domenico Modugno interrupt the silence.

film in this film is like skin that has been bruised by time, tortured like
the bodies that float in it, reduced to ashes by leaden tones of grayish
brown, cradled only by the sound of water that washes the temporal
distances and links the histories. The two bodies are spied upon in their
desperate attempt at contact as a dark thunderstorm is grafted on,
governed by a lamppost that, close up and vibrant, is almost human in
its intimate survey of the naked woman. And in the finale, the lightness
of the music suspends the weight, releasing the body from the burden
of pain/memory, almost as though it were making it float.”

Carlo Michele Schirinzi
Carlo Michele Schirinzi (Capo di Leuca, Lecce, Italy, 1974) is a video maker and artist. In 2004, his short All’erta! won an award at the Pesaro Film Festival, which then dedicated the 2005 retrospective to him. Over the years, the Torino Film Festival has presented much of his work: Astrolìte (2002), Il nido (Special Mention in 2003), Oligarchico (2007), Sonderbehandlung (2008), Notturno stenopeico (Best Italian Short in 2009), Mammaliturchi! (Special Mention in 2010), and Natura morta in giallo (2012). Eco da luogo scolpito was selected at the Venice International Film Festival. He presented his first feature film I resti di Bisanzio (2014) at Pesaro Film Festival and at Doclisboa.
