Xiao Pengke is a twenty-year-old singer who performs at rock concerts “We weren’t satisfied with just telling the story of the protagonist
in Shanghai. Her songs are poems that talk of the ashes of the myth
of the cultural revolution. The story of her vagabond life is a portrait
of modern-day China, from the importance of consumerism to the
increasing loss of values in this country which is undergoing major
transformation. Xiao Pengke grew up with the fear of being a woman
in a system in which the destiny of girls seems to already be written.
She decided that things would be different for her and made music her
companion, becoming an icon of the punk movement which is arriving
in China thirty years late.

Alberto Gerosa
Alberto Gerosa (Monza, Italy, 1985) is working on his doctorate in communications with a documentary about the integration of Italians in China. He worked at the DDM Warehouse Independent Center for Contemporary Art in Shanghai, was the assistant curator of the international project Migration Addicts, which was presented at the Venice Biennale in 2007, and has collaborated with the Italian Cultural Institute of New York.

Davide Arosio (Milan, Italy, 1985), starting in 2004, has made many fiction short films, including Il ragazzo di sabbia, which participated at the 25th Torino Film Festival. Since 2008 he has collaborated with Alberto Gerosa on various documentaries, including Michelle, which was presented at the Venice Biennale in 2008, Xiao Pengke, which participated at the 26th Torino Film Festival, and Angeles City, Philippines, which won the award for best short film at Corto in Bra.
