castaic lake A trip around artificial Castaic Lake to show its most recent history. While technicians and workers are busy every day doing maintenance on the water systems and controlling the lake’s fauna, hordes of tourists happily spend their vacation swimming, fishing, going on excursions and enjoying the evening entertainment. But the lake, which is the product of infrastructural norms and environmental changes, has had a strong influence on the surroundings and has changed the habits of its nearby inhabitants. “One can sense that this massive body of water has been moved into this canyon, covering artifacts and absorbing the debris of newer incidents, with the lake’s surface separating what is buried and what is to come. In attempting to make a portrait of the multi-faceted nature of this place, I wanted to include this sense of potentials and the unseen, what the lake may have absorbed, while discovering these activities of leisure and management that intersect to form a pageantry.”
