four lions Omar lives in a small town in England and is determined to become a jihad warrior. He is followed by Waj, a rather dim-witted friend, weird Faisal and Barry, a white guy who has converted to Islam. When Omar and Waj leave for a training camp in Pakistan, Barry, the most fanatical of the group, is forced to remain in England. He recruits a new follower, the rapper Hassan. When the two return, despite the violent struggle for leadership between Omar and Barry and strong disagreement within the group, they finally manages to plan a suicide attack that is to take place during the London marathon. But the outcome of the operation is not what they had planned. “I spoke with experts on terrorism, the police, the secret service and hundreds of Muslims. Even the ones who had been trained and fought the jihad throw light on its farcical, tragicomic aspect. Five jihadists plan to ram an American warship with a launch full of bombs. They put the boat in the water, they load it up with explosives, they board the ship and it sinks. Terrorism is ideology, but it’s also idiocy.”
