Lyon. Gerland is one of the last working-class neighborhoods within the city limits, a place where old industrial areas are being demolished. Through sounds, images, old film clips, archive material, texts, documents and photographs, with an eye that is social, human, historical and urban, fragments of stories – real or imaginary – begin to emerge of the people who, over time, have lived in or brought life to this territory.

“By inserting a few fiction sequences (which will not necessarily be noticed as such by the spectator) that tell about the lives of the main characters in the neighborhood, three historical moments of this place are evoked: work and struggle; using the empty spaces after the factory has been closed down; and, finally, its demolition and future reconstruction. The editing consisted of interweaving these different trajectories in such a way that light was shed on what connects these different moments in time and the stories, not so much in a didactic way as through echoes, contrasts, angles.”
