in the woods Two boys and a girl go off in search of a new feeling of communion. They are surrounded by enormous trees, sparkling rivers, isolated beaches, mountains and an eerie, burnt-down red house at the end of the forest. Why are they there? What is that strange sexual impulse which the trees, the water and the leaves stimulate in them? Is someone or something watching them? They undergo an initiatory and primordial experience and make contact once again with the elements of nature. “The decision to use my little digital photographic camera allowed me to get in ever closer. To lick the stones or make love to the sand like a documentary on the senses. But making contact, not removed like a voyeur. A sexual recording mode for a film about the materiality of emotions. Like a Fauvist painting with its deliberate outlines, intense coloration and violent forms.”

Angelos Frantzis
Angelos Frantzis (Athens, Greece, 1970) studied film direction at INSAS in Brussels. Besides film directing, he has been involved in art projects with combined techniques (installation, performance) and has worked as a film critic. His films have been selected in major international film festivals: in 2010 both Rotterdam and Turin presented his experimental feature Into the Woods. His latest installation, Got to Be Real, partecipated in 2012 at Biennale di Venezia.
