mürner’s universe Erwin and Sonja Mürner are a retired couple. The wife would like her husband to clean up the study but Erwin wants to make a film about extraterrestrials and that seems to be all he can think about. Disappointed because his friends aren’t supporting his project and refuse to help him, he decides to hold a casting session on the streets of Winterthur. His wife, although perplexed, goes along with this project. She goes off every so often but then returns; she makes the costumes and takes care of him, silently standing by him, even when faced with the new mysterious object, a computer. “God is an invention of the human mind. The imaginary God has been passed on through millions of years and established itself in the brain in the form of a schizophrenic, epileptic delusion. It gets you thinking about whether everything they taught you is true, or just a waste of time. [...] The truth cannot be changed. Only the untruth. The truth remains the truth. Take another look. That’s really important! [...] My film will encourage people to think about what is true or not.” (Erwin Mürner)
