red hill

The young cop Shane Cooper and his wife Alice have moved to Red Hill, an isolated town in Australia. Alice is pregnant and the two intend to start their new family life there. But when the news of a prison breakout throws the local police force into a panic, Shane’s first day in service turns into a nightmare. Jimmy Conway, a murderer who was convicted to life in prison, has escaped and returned to town in search of revenge. Shane, overwhelmed by what is rapidly turning into a terrifying bloodbath, is forced to take control of  the situation in order to survive.

“I’ve always felt Australia was ripe for a modern-day western; Red Hill is my tribute to the western genre. It’s about revenge, redemption and sacrifice. The character of Jimmy Conway is a representation of our dark colonial past. Over the years many stories have been told of the injustices suffered by Australia’s indigenous community, but few had given them a voice of revenge. I felt it was about time.”
