WINTER'S BONE

Duration: 100'

winter’s bone

Seventeen-year-old Ree is desperately searching for her father, who disappeared after pawning the family home to pay his bail. If the man doesn’t show up at his trial, the girl, her sick mother and her younger brothers are going to be forced to leave their home and have nowhere else to go. The girl is hampered by a wall of lies, codes of silence, subterfuges and threats by their neighbors and finally puts her life at stake in order to save her family. Despite the difficulties, the mystery slowly begins to dissolve.

“I read Winter’s Bone in one sitting. I had not done that with any book in a long time. I wanted to see how Ree was going to survive. It felt like an old-fashioned type of tale, with a character I couldn’t help but root for, and with an atmosphere my mind was actively trying to conjure. It also felt fresh in that, I do not often get a chance to imagine a life like Ree’s, whose circumstances lie outside the confines of my own.”
