DE LA MUTABILITE DE TOUTE CHOSE ET DE LA POSSIBILITE D'EN CHANGER CERTAINS

THE MUTABILITY OF ALL THINGS AND THE POSSIBILITY OF CHANGING SOME
by Anna Marziano
Country: France
Year: 2011
Duration: 16'

Moving to a new house and rebuilding a network of relationships in a new place, trying to understand the dynamics: for the inhabitants of the area in Abruzzo which was struck by the earthquake in 2009, and who remained without either home or points of reference, these are essential and fundamental needs. The changes have touched every one of them, and everyone reacts their own way, even if the only thing left of their past is just a souvenir from Pompeii.

“The transitory state which our existences share is particularly obvious at l’Aquila, where the earthquake created an upheaval not only within the limits of the houses, but also in the bodies of the people and in the social places. […] The film was born as a reaction to two thrusts: on the one hand, acceptance of the cyclical and perennial change of things, starting with an awareness of being negligible instead of important; on the other hand, the decision to participate in a shared becoming… and the endless amazement at the individuality of each being. The film finds its own political dimension in this weightless and irreducible inclination toward action.”
