Josephine smarts under the reputation of being “invisible” – a deadly judgment for an acting student! So when famous director Kaspar Friedmann picks her to play the lead role in his new production, Josephine is the first to wonder why. The heroine is a strong, sexually aggressive, self-destructive vamp, the very opposite of Josephine. As she slips into her new role, the borders between theater and reality begin to blur, sending her on a dangerous path toward self-discovery. “I’ve always liked theater. On set there’s something magic going on, but being in a theater, in a big building, feeling the mood after a show, seeing all the actors, who just gave all they had, lying exhausted in their dressing rooms... it’s something else. Something that has always intrigued me. A couple of years ago I heard the story of an actress who attempted suicide right after a show because she was so taken by her character she had no other way to get out of it. This episode greatly influenced the story we wrote afterwards.”
