SEH-O-NIM

THREE AND A HALF
by Naghi Nemati
Country: Iran
Year: 2011
Duration: 80'

Hanieh, Homa and Banafsheh are three inmates at an Iranian prison; after receiving a pass from prison, they decide to escape to the north of the country in order to sneak across the border. As they near the frontier, the three women arrange to meet Nasser, who is supposed to help them flee. But the young man doesn’t show up and Hanieh’s suffering reveals to the other two girls that she is pregnant. Homa and Banafsheh decide to take her to a hospital, thus irremediably changing their initial plan.

I have followed the destiny of three Iranian girls who are risking their lives to improve their conditions but they are involved in a dangerous game. I have tried to depict the agonies and problems of such people and how they are victimized for their dreams and hopes. I personally hope that one day all human beings could choose the place they wish to live, travel freely and there would not be any border for human beings.
