A man and a women meet on the landing of a condominium: they look at each other for a moment, perhaps recognizing each other, then he walks downstairs and she goes into a room. But that encounter has opened up the dimension of memory for both of them: as the man passes into the darkness of the stairwell he thinks back on a moment that took place in his life long ago; the woman, who is a child once again, takes uncertain steps in her playroom populated with objects that seem to want to say something to her. When a rip in the wallpaper lets her unmask reality, the two of them manage to see each other and conserve the memory of an encounter that was only imaginary. “The atmosphere is like a thin layer that’s easy to shatter. On the verge of cracking. Glass. And, it’s not an elsewhere. It’s a between. Amid. It’s the transparency of sheets of paper on a luminous table. We would like to embellish this atmosphere. ‘Embellish,’ weave, embroider. With voices, snagged memories. That is, the sonorous atmospheres of two worlds that are clashing on that wall. The dots of the Braille alphabet. Dots, notes. Sounds from the carillon, the creaking in the room.”
