Ang Lee

Li Ang (Taiwan, 1954) moved to the United States in 1978. He graduated the University of Illinois in drama and received a masters in film at New York University. He then wrote the screenplays. Pushing Hands, and The Wedding Banquet, which were given awards by the Taiwan government information office international screenwriting competition. Thanks to this recognition, he made his first feature film in 1991. Pushing Hands, followed by The Wedding Banquet, winner of the Golden Bear at Berlin in 1993.
