Declaration

film director

“I went to Tristan with the objective of writing a screenplay for a feature film set on the island. The short film 37°4 S was created purely as an experiment to assess the possibility of shooting a fiction in Tristan; this was the first time a foreigner got the permission to write and shoot a work of fiction on the island. After many attempts I found Natalie and Riaan, who were willing to act, but not to memorize the dialogues or rehearse the scenes. So I had to change the narrative device and use voice over, Justin’s, the only one in Tristan who accepted to lend his voice to the character Nick.”
