A man sitting on a bench on an afternoon like any other, thinking about his life while looking at a carousel in a square in Florence. Memories resurface in a stream of consciousness: his departed wife, her scent, her cooking; the realization that he is nothing more that an extension of his own father, to whom he owes his upbringing, his education; and many other apparently insignificant details from the past that could help us understand many things about ourselves, perhaps too many.

Jorge Quintela
Jorge Quintela (Porto, Portugal, 1981) studied photography and audiovisual arts at the Escuela Superior Artística do Porto, where he graduated in 2003. He then started working as a photography director and organizing events and seminars for various cultural associations throughout Portugal. He has been collaborating as a producer for the production company Bando á Parte since 2005. He made his debut as a film director with the documentary On the Road to Femina in 2010. His recent exploit, Carousel (2013), received the award for best short film in competition at the Curtas Vila do Conde Film Festival.
