The day the well-known Mafioso Vito Ciancimino is elected mayor of Palermo is also the day Arturo is born, and this coincidence will have many more consequences on his life than one would think. In fact, the boy has two obsessions, each of which consumes him entirely: his tormented love for Flora, who shares a desk with him in class and who he has been in love with since elementary school; and his obsession about the frightening connections between his city and the Mafia. This second obsession isolates him from everybody, including Flora, until, unfortunately, current events prove him right.

Pierfrancesco Diliberto
Pierfrancesco Diliberto, a.k.a. Pif (Palermo, Italy, 1972), got his start in the world of cinema by working on the production of Tea With Mussolini (1998) by Franco Zeffirelli and One Hundred Steps (1999) by Marco Tullio Giordana. In the meantime, after winning a contest for TV writers held by Mediaset in 1998, he began writing for TV and for the program Le Iene, for which he became a correspondent. In 2007, he began working on the MTV program Il testimone and in 2012, on the occasion of the 21st anniversary of the deaths of Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino, he wrote the short story Sarà stata una fuga di gas (It Must Have Been a Gas Leak), which was published in the anthology Dove eravamo. Vent’anni dopo Capaci e via D’Amelio. La mafia uccide solo d’estate is the first film he has directed.
