MIDNIGHT COWBOY

MIDNIGHT COWBOY
by John Schlesinger
Country: USA
Year: 1969

Tall, blond and naïve, he travels from Texas to New York to get rich as a gigolo. But the city demolishes him and he ends up doing tricks in the slums with homosexuals. He makes a friend, a penniless consumptive who dreams of going to Florida. From Free Cinema, Schlesinger lands in the USA and immediately captures the collapse of the “Dream” with a bitter urban fairytale that won three Oscars. With Jon Voight playing the hick and an immense Dustin Hoffman as the consumptive.
