Fifteen-year-old Sa moves to Bangkok from the countryside in search of a job to support her family far away, which is weighed down by debts and poverty. After working for three years in a factory, she realizes that the only way to earn a decent salary is to sell her body, working in a karaoke club where entertaining the audience goes well beyond singing a few songs. Now that she has turned twenty-three it’s time to return home and visit her parents.

Visra Vichit Vadakan
Visra Vichit Vadakan (Thailand, 1981) studied at Stanford University and graduated from the Tisch School of the Arts in New York. She debuted in directing with the short Fall (2008), after which she directed the experimental documentary Rise (2009) and In Space (2010), all of which were presented at important international festivals. After her debut in feature films with Karaoke Girl (2013), she is now developing a new project, Karma Police.
