SWEETWATER

SWEETWATER
by Logan Miller
Country: USA
Year: 2013
Duration: 95'

New Mexico. Sarah and Miguel own a patch of land, and they are ready to work hard to cultivate it. It is the end of the 19th century, a time of cowboys, caravans and preachers. But the powerful local religious leader, a man called Prophet Josiah, decides to ruin Sarah and Miguel’s plans, and kills Miguel. The town’s unwritten law is clear: Sarah can only submit to Josiah’s persecution and surrender to her husband’s death. But one day a new sheriff arrives from the city to bring justice to town, and Sarah finally finds the courage to react.

Biography

film director

Logan Miller

Logan and Noah Miller (CA, USA) are twin brothers who always work together, co-writing and co-directing movies. Eclectic and creative, they are also professional baseball players, they have done odd jobs ranging from painting houses, to bingo callers, and they were also models for a while. But as soon as they could, with seventeen credit cards in their pocket, they wrote, directed, and even played parts in their first feature film Touching Home (2008). The story of how they managed to make a movie in less than a year then became a book, Either You’re in, or You’re in the Way, published in the United States by Harper. Sweetwater is their second movie.

Declaration

film director

“We have the opinion that anything considered sacred in art is dangerous. When something is sacred it is devoid of the prospect of evolution, which benefits neither art nor mankind. […] We wanted to look beyond many of the Western genre conventions, to create a tragedy with no winners, no simply defined good characters, a world where everyone is screwed up - a dark, twisted, and sordid narrative, a blood triangle burning across the New Mexican highlands.” (Logan and Noah Miller)
