THE SWIMMER

THE SWIMMER
by Frank Perry
Country: USA
Year: 1968
Duration: 95'

A wealthy fifty-year-old man goes swimming in a friend’s pool. Then he decides to return home by swimming in all the pools that dot the Connecticut suburb where he lives. A great solo turn by Burt Lancaster, who displays compressed tension and evident unhappiness, in this nightmare of suburban disillusionment, suspended between Kafka and Beckett. Based on a short story by John Cheever, directed by Perry, with one scene directed by Pollack.
