Two nameless drivers (the musicians James Taylor and Dennis Wilson) have a souped-up Chevrolet and participate in illegal car races. One day, they challenge the driver of a Ferrari GTO to a race all the way to Washington. But after a while each goes his own way. An existential road movie, with roads, cars, encounters, silences, chitchat (by GTO, a great Warren Oates), landscapes, and without a touch of rhetoric. Monte Hellman, a precursor of Wim Wenders. Debut script by Rudy Wurlitzer.
