Something strange is going on in Arizona: ants of different species no longer fight each other but rather seem to have become allies to invade and destroy. A remarkable example of paranoid-humanistic science fiction, set in the desert and a scientific laboratory, it is the only film directed by Saul Bass, who designed many opening credits for Hitchcock and Preminger. No exaggerations, played in a “low” key and increasing the tension with a masterly use of documentary shots by the wildlife photographer Ken Middleton.
