In Folsom prison, in California, a young man serving a life sentence for having killed his father is running sprints. The prison directors notice that he is very fast and think he might have a chance at the tryouts for the Olympic team in the 1,500 meter race. Training begins, with clashes between gangs, violence, prevarications. Shot at Folsom prison with real inmates, the TV movie (three Emmy awards, including Peter Strauss for best actor) marked the debut of one of the great directors of the following decades: Michael Mann. A shot of desperate adrenaline.
