Despite his young age, Andrew Neiman has a very ambitious objective. He wants to be known for his talent, and he will do so by becoming the best jazz drummer in the elite music conservatory in Manhattan where he studies. He feels the burden of his father’s failed career as a writer. But one night, while he is practicing, Terence Fletcher drops in: the famous conductor, known both for his talent for teaching and for his unconventional methods discovers him. It’s a unique opportunity for Andrew to prove his talent. But the pressure exerted by his demanding instructor and his own maniacal efforts and ambition will push him to the very limit.
