In Saigon, a war reporter agrees to steal a cache of heroin and take it back to San Francisco. But once he gets to the States, he discovers he has become ensnared in a dangerous game. And he begins to run. The Vietnam war in the background throws a heavy shadow of disillusion onto a thriller made of lost souls and shattered dreams. Great chemistry between Nick Nolte and Tuesday Weld, and straightforward directing by Karel Reisz, an exile from Free Cinema. The English title is taken from a Creedence Clearwater Revival song.
