Declaration

film director

“Borsalino City is a story about 'family capitalism' and the domination over the life of a small town for over 120 years. As a former worker said: 'Borsalino has fed, it can be said, all Alessandria'. If, on one hand, Alessandria as many other ex industrial towns has nowadays any sign of its former 'magnificence', on the other hand, all over the world there is still a great imaginative power related to the Borsalino brand and factory. The process of creating the borsalino myth, necessarily passes through the expert hands of those who greatly made hats, of those who worked. Therefore, using the wonderful archive pictures, we revived some testimonies of workers who in 1957 celebrated the centenary of the factory: in their faces and in their words there is all the dignity of the working class and the pride of 'know-how'. Somehow, with this film, from Alessandria in Hollywood, we have tried to bridge the gap between the unknown and the glamour.”
