Declaration
film director
“The night FIFA announced the 2018 and 2022 World Cup hosts, I was in my home town of Doha, Qatar. I went out into the streets to shoot. There was jubilation. The future for us very suddenly – If only momentarily – changed. Class, gender and other divides seemed suspended those hours after the announcement. But all the while I was aware of the encroaching darkness.”
