Lida is a young real estate agent in Phnom Penh, opening the doors of luxurious apartments for the wealthy elites of a society that is rapidly changing. Even though she finds great satisfaction in her professional life, her personal life is in crisis. To escape this situation, Lida books a holiday in Kep: a seaside resort still untouched by modernization, where the past is still tangible and unexpectedly manifests itself.

Steve Chen
Steve Chen (Chicago, IL, USA, 1981) studied architecture at Princeton University and worked for a number of internationally recognized design offices. He operates Chen Office, a boutique, cross-disciplinary design and production house whose work spans across design, art, and cinema. With filmmakers Davy Chou and Kavich Neang he also founded Anti-Archive, which produces films by the next generation of Cambodian filmmakers and supports independent directors shooting in Cambodia. Dream Land (2015) is his first feature film. He currently lives in Orange County, where he’s developing his new screenplay, Live, Laugh, Love.

“With only ten crew persons, sixteen days and a production budget under 50,000 dollars, Dream Land was directed from a loose set of directions and notes about the quality of the characters’ relationship, architecture, movement, light, and sound. These ‘snapshots’ mimic the fleeting moment of photography, echoing the same transience Cambodia is going through today. This loose and collaborative approach has led us to develop of one of the first Cambodian art house films — one I hope will help build momentum in the new era of Cambodian society and filmmaking.”
