A family is torn apart as the country prepares itself for war. Hamlet is forced to avenge his father’s death, but he paralyzed by the task before him; the man rages against his situation, putting at risk his mental sanity and his country’s safety.

Last October, 225,000 spectators from twenty-five different countries tuned in via satellite TV to the National Theatre of London for the live performance of Hamlet, the Shakesperian tragedy starring the Oscar Nomination Benedict Cumberbatch and directed by Lindsey Turner. It was a groundbreaking record for the National Theatre Live project. That extraordinary production has now made it to Italy and can be previewed at the Torino Film Festival. The piece will be distributed to Italian movie theaters in February as part of a project that is bringing the productions from the London-based theatre to the silver screen, presented in original language with Italian subtitles.
