Declaration
film director
“What do we know about ourselves, except for the fact that we were born thousands of years ago… […] Of that decisive and natural instant, Méditerranée doesn’t consign us a full deck of cards, but at least the most important keys… and even the most fragile ones… In that ordinary series of images in 16mm, over which the extraordinary spirit of 70mm wafts, it is now up to us to find the space that only cinema is able to transform into lost time… Or rather the contrary. Because here are smoothed planes and curves abandoned on the screen like a pebble on the shore… Then, every editing, like a wave, comes to imprint and to cancel the word memory, the word happiness, the word woman, the word sky…” (J.-L. Godard, “Cahiers du cinema,” February 1967).
