The best adaptation of Matheson’s I Am Legend: by day, Vincent Price, a scientist and the sole survivor of an epidemic that has transformed humans into vampires, wanders around the perfect and deserted setting of EUR. Directed in 1963 by Ubaldo Ragona and set in 1968, a disturbing and bitter B movie that is a forerunner of Romero’s Night of the Living Dead and introduces the classic themes of the horror films to come. Neglected when it was released, today it is considered one of Italy’s sci-fi masterpieces.
