THE FINAL GIRLS

THE FINAL GIRLS
by Todd Strauss-Schulson
Country: USA
Year: 2015
Duration: 91'

Max knew that it would have been a bad idea to go to the screening of the cult slasher film Camp Bloodbath. Nancy, her recently deceased mother, played a part in it back in her heyday as a scream queen. After a mysterious incident, Max and her unfortunate friends are sucked into the movie. She will have to navigate her way through scantily dressed girls, horny guys, and a machete-wielding serial killer, while also dealing with Nancy, or at least a version of her she did not know.

Declaration

film director

“I love movies, and loved the idea of making a movie about being stuck in a movie, where the tropes of the movie were after you… I remember being a kid and going to the video store every day and trying to rent every video in the row starting in the horror section. […] This movie is sort of a reference of those movies in a comical way, with the bad acting and silly outfits and all of that. But its also a movie about movies, about movie lovers. I wanted there to be a pure joy of moviemaking in the film. So much of this movie lives and dies on its tone, on the filmmaking.”
