GO HOME

GO HOME
by Jihane Chouaib
Country: France, Switzerland, Belgium, Lebanon
Year: 2015
Duration: 98'

When Nada returns home to Lebanon, she feels out of place, a stranger. She had left to escape the civil war and now that she has returned everything seems changed and unfamiliar. There is only one place where she feels at home: an abandoned building whose walls are falling down, where she can sense the presence of her grandfather, who disappeared mysteriously during the war. Something happened between those walls, violence was committed; Nada wants to find out more and puts herself on the line. [cg]

Declaration

film director

“‘Go home’ is something you get told a lot when you are an emigrant. ‘Go home, go back to where you come from.’ And one day you go back to your home country, and you hear ‘go home’ again. ‘You’re not from there anymore.’ Because you have changed, and because the country has changed. What is ‘home’ today? Is there a new way to define it? What does it mean to belong, in a time of constant migration?”
