Declaration
film director
“I found a home video made by my father with his Pathé 9.5 video camera. It was my first day of school, and my father was recording me as I got ready. As I watched the footage over and over again, I realized that the real protagonist is time. […] The images flow into the present video, and I find myself caught between the woman I am and the girl I once was, when my mother would dress me for school and my father hidden behind the camera, watching and filming. […] Now I am the one watching, leading the game, changing it, and the only one left from that scene. I observed it, spying it frame by frame like a detective looking for clues to a crime. […] Making this short was like an archaeological dig. I did and said what I couldn’t do and say at the time. With sounds, signs, and the changes I drew, I gave a voice to my silent film.”
