Melisa and her friends have known each other for years; they started out together as little girls, then adolescents and now they are young women. But how did this passage occur? What were they like when they were small and what was their adolescence like? Photographs, shared memories, and movies of parties, dinners and everyday moments create the portrait of a group of girls who society expects, above all, to be pretty, “lindas,” and who aren’t always at ease with these expectations. Declaration
film director
“I was always interested in the genre of self-portraits, first of all as a spectator. While making this film I felt particularly exposed: I’m a person, too, I have my own history. The people I film are my lifelong friends: at university, at the gym, at meetings or at dinner. They’re used to seeing me suddenly pull out my movie camera and start filming them. But when I realized that these film clips would become a movie, one of them decided not to let herself be filmed anymore, and that’s what happened. This, too, is a topic we discuss in the movie.”
