Antoine had warned him: Marie is dangerous. But this doesn’t keep Siméon from dropping everything to follow her. This “everything” isn’t much, since his relationship with Béatrice is over and the magazine he works for has folded. So Siméon decides to leave Paris and go to the island of Groix, in Bretagne. However, if he had been thinking about starting an adventure à deux, he was wrong: Oscar, his musician and sleep-walking flatmate, and even Antoine, an author with writer’s block, also come to the island. The involuntary Parisian quartet thus find themselves immersed in a completely different environment with new people to discover. [cg]

Sébastien Betbeder
(Pau, France, 1975) studied at Le Fresnoy and has made numerous shorts, including Les mains d’Andréa (2006). That same year, he directed his first feature film, Nuage, selected at Locarno. In 2008, he presented La vie lointaine at the Torino Film Festival, and the next year the short Toutes les montagnes se ressemblent, directed in collaboration with Christelle Lheureux. In 2010, he shot Yoshido (Les autres vies), selected in Paris and Rotterdam. In 2012 premiered with Les nuits avec Théodore at Onde section, and the following year he won in Turin the Jury Special Prize with 2 automnes 3 hivers. He then presented in Turin the short Inupiluk (2014) and the comedy Ulysse & Mona (2018).

“I began thinking about the film during the post-production of 2 automnes 3 hivers. I was driven by the utopian desire to construct a movie in which the characters themselves would have to develop the story. So I decided that the protagonists would be slightly older than in the other movie, as though Marie and Siméon were the elder siblings of Arman and Amélie. I was interested in seeing how they would influence the plot, or how I would manage to make them responsible for the narration.”
