PALOMBELLA ROSSA

PALOMBELLA ROSSA
by Nanni Moretti
Country: Italy
Year: 1989
Duration: 89'

Michele Apicella, an official for the Communist Party, loses his memory after a car accident. While playing an away game in Sicily with his water-polo team, he starts to remember glimpses of his past: his political activism, his career as a politician, some childhood memories, like when he first learned how to swim in the pool. But what makes it all the more confusing is that people keep telling him about this epic thing he did on a TV show recently, which Michele just cannot seem to recall. More memories float to the surface during the water-polo match, with dramatic and even grotesque consequences. [cg]
