ROCK'N'ROLL HIGH SCHOOL

ROCK'N'ROLL HIGH SCHOOL
by Allan Arkush
Country: USA
Year: 1979
Duration: 93'

Some of the students at Vince Lombardi High School are interested in only one thing: rock ‘n’ roll. The teachers are well aware of this and they drop like flies, victims of constant nervous breakdowns. The new principal, domineering Miss Togar, seems ready to do whatever it takes to reinstate order. But she hasn’t taken into account Riff Randell, the school’s wildest and most rebellious student, who can count on exceptional allies: none other than the Ramones, who are ready to bring chaos to the classroom. [rm]

Declaration

film director

“I was influenced by Animal House a lot, and that success gave me the freedom to be outrageous. But a lot of the outrageous stuff in Rock’n’Roll High School was stuff that happened to me personally in high school. Like the freshman being shoved in the locker. That happened to me all the time at Fort Lee High School, in New Jersey. I used to daydream that the Yardbirds or the Rolling Stones would come to my school and play a concert. I also daydreamed about motorcycle races up and down the halls. The boys’ room was also always full of smoke, but it was also full of danger.”
