Kostis is a middle-aged doctor, a bachelor without any family; he has moved to a small island in the Aegean sea. He spends a long and solitary winter there, but when summer arrives the island is invaded by young tourists in search of fun. Captivated by the hedonism surrounding him, Kostis falls in love with beautiful Anna and lets himself be swept away in a whirlwind of parties, alcohol and sex. Obsessed with the object of his desire, he will have to come to terms with looming maturity and with youth, which he had never experienced in full and which is claiming that which had been denied him until this moment. Argyris Papadimitropoulos
Argyris Papadimitropoulos (Athens, Greece, 1976) studied film in Athens, Oxford and at the Berlinale Talent Campus. After directing various shorts, in 2oo8 his comedy Bank Bang received audience and critical acclaim. He next tried his hand at drama with Wasted Youth, selected as the opening film at the 2011 Rotterdam Film Festival. He has also directed over two hundred commercials and, as a producer, created Oxymoron Film, with which he has produced the projects of other colleagues, including Sto Spiti by Athanasios Karanikolas, which won at the 2014 Berlin Film Festival.

“My most personal film to date, Suntan was shot during the summertime on the tiny island of Antiparos, when the place was packed with non-stop party-goers. Shooting a film during the busiest time of the season on a Greek island might sound like an impossible mission, but for me, it was an obvious choice. I 've been going to Antiparos since I was fifteen years old, like any hormonal teenager, and I still continue to do so - although I'm dangerously close to the age of my main character, Kostis.”
