Adam Pinney
Adam Pinney has been working in television and film for thirteen years. A member of the collective Fake Wood Wallpaper, headquartered in Atlanta, he has collaborated as director of photography on the thriller 24 Exposures (2013) by Joe Swanberg and as a cameraman on two films directed by Alex Orr, the producer of The Arbalest: the horror movie Blood Car (2007) and the comedy A Is for Alex (2010), for which Pinney also wrote the screenplay. He debuted in directing in 2002 with the short Helena, which was followed in 2003 by The Last Last and the Tribulations of Johnnybush.

“I wanted to make strong stylistic choices during production to show familiar ideas and feelings in an unfamiliar way. Camera movements are intentional and motivated. Hugh Braselton, the DP, and I worked hard on getting unconventional coverage to complement the performances. Visually, much of the influence for this film came from the color films of Jean-Luc Godard – Weekend, Contempt, and A Woman Is a Woman – where primary colors are abundant. It was my intention to have the colors, images and production design act as characters in the film.”
