Adolescent Milo lives an isolated life in New York: a friendless orphan, he is the victim of violence and bullying at school. His only refuge is his brother’s apartment, where he escapes his solitude and frustration by immersing himself in the world of vampires through movies and novels. When he meets Sophie, the next-door-neighbor, unfamiliar feelings are sparked in him. This is an unexpected change for Milo and it forces him to control the secret, disquieting urges which prey on him. [rm]

Declaration
film director
“In terms of style, I am influenced very much by I guess you could call the new neo-realists like Azazel Jacobs, Kelly Reichardt, the Safdie brothers, or Ramin Bahrani, and god do I love Lars von Trier. I think I may idolize that guy. And Gaspar Noe is great. But I also love low budget horror and exploitation movies. Like all the wide shots of Milo walking and looking in these landscapes… I think that at least in part comes from my love of Jean Rollin and specifically Requiem for a Vampire.”
