Christopher Doyle has lived an extraordinary life: after leaving the Australian desert for the ocean, he has voyaged throughout the world, worked as a sailor and a well-digger, and lived in a kibbutz. This adventurous life led him to Taiwan, where, at thirty-two years of age, he picked up a movie camera for the first time and became one of contemporary cinema’s most famous and sought-after directors of photography, collaborating with directors such as Wong Kar-wai, Gus Van Sant, James Ivory and Neil Jordan. In this movie, he sits in front of the camera and tells the story of his life through memories, images and reflections. [rm]

Declaration

film director

“Chris’ life experiences inspired me twelve years ago when I was at a crossroad, deciding what I should do with my life and Wind was filmed last year, at the lowest point of my life. Chris not only inspired me, he helped me through making this film together. Wind is thus a celebration of the power of filmmaking and film. And we would like to share it with children who need inspiration and help.”
