WIR SIND DIE FLUT

WE ARE THE TIDE
by Sebastian Hilger
Country: Germany
Year: 2016

Fifteen years ago, the ocean disappeared from the coast of Windholm, Germany. So did the local children. The young physicist Micha would like to conduct an in-depth study of this inexplicable phenomenon but that calls for a grant, which he is denied. He decides to leave anyway, accompanied by Jana, a former colleague and the daughter of the rector of the university where he works. A mystery to be resolved and the ghosts of their shared past await them. [rm]

Declaration

film director

“They call us ‘Generation Y.’ We were raised to believe we were special, that we could change the world with our ideas and our choices. Now, we find ourselves facing closed doors. We’re all waiting for the next short-term contract, the next sublet, the next temporary relationship. We are stuck in the inbetweens. […] Is this life, or is it still on its way? And if it is, when will it arrive? […] Will it ever be different? And how should it be different? We Are Tide is a movie about the disappointment of a whole generation – and its determination to still carry on.”
