One night, a group of workers discovers that the management at the factory which employs them has organized a theft of the machinery. Realizing that this is an unmistakable sign of the company’s imminent bankruptcy, a few of them turn down the proposed severance pay and occupy the factory. But to their great surprise, the managers disappear into thin air, leaving them alone to decide how to run a half-empty factory, in a world where the crisis is rewriting the rules of labor economics.

Pedro Pinho
Pedro Pinho (Lisbon, Portugal, 1977) studied Cinema in Lisbon and Paris. In 2008 he codirected with Frederico Lobo the documentary feature Bab Sebta (Prize Marseille Esperance Award at FIDMarseille, Best Film at Doclisboa and forumdoc.bh in Brazil). In 2009, he founded with five fellow filmmakers the company Terratreme, which in recent years has been playing a central role producing and promoting new directors in the portuguese panorama. In 2014 he codirected with Luisa Homem the documentary As Cidades e as Trocas and in 2013 his first medium-length fiction film, The End of the World, screened at the 63 Berlinale, Indielisboa, and Festival do Rio. Today he works as a director, writer and producer. A Fábrica de Nada is his first fiction feature.
